Where to go in Amish Country.
The last post I told you where we stayed in Amish Country, but not what we did. So here are some things you can do.
If you like cheese (I’m a cheese freak), you need to go to Hieni’s Cheese Chalet. They’ve got samples of every kind of cheese they make. And they make a lot. Probably around 100 types of cheese. There are many cheese places around, but Hieni’s is the best.
If you are into wine, there are also a number of wineries in the area. Breitenbach Winery is probably the best. They have many award winning wines. And samples of course. Silver Moon Winery is one that we’ve never gone to before this weekend, but they have a very big selection of wine.
If you want Amish Furniture, just throw something and you’ll hit a furniture shop. They are everywhere.
One of my favorite places to go is Lehman’s Hardware Store. They have everything. They specialize in non electric goods for the Amish, which usually means that it’s better than it’s electric counterpart. They have this line of kitchen appliances that look like they were made in the 1800′s. Expensive, but really cool looking.

Lehman’s is my favorite store. I buy all of my cast iron cookware there and all of my kitchen knives too! The stuff is not cheap, but my daughter will be able to give it to her kids. It sounds like you had a very good time.
Lehman’s is the best. I really want the black old style looking fridge with flames on it.
