Best Places for a Honeymoon. Top Five Honeymoon Destinations
The Lansing State Journal has come out with a list of what they think are the top five places for your honeymoon. These are the hottest and most popular places to visit.
Negril, Jamaica
Located in the Caribbean, newlyweds have the opportunity to enjoy seven miles of a white sand beach. The atmosphere is casual and laid-back with the bars and clubs right on the beach. While you’ll be vacationing in an exotic country, the official language is English, which makes touring a delight.
St. Lucia
Another Caribbean paradise, couples can enjoy scuba diving or snorkeling in the Atlantic Ocean. With more than 41 listings of resorts online, St. Lucia is a versatile vacation spot in terms of price. Guests enjoy local steel band music and tropical cuisine.
Cancun, mexico
This destination is perfect for a fun-filled getaway with all the excitement of clubs, shopping and beautiful beaches. The versatile location is also perfect for a relaxing trip for newlyweds in terms of pampering and the laid-back atmosphere.
Christina Hunter, 25, of Holt, spent her honeymoon in Cancun in 2005. Her husband chose Cancun after speaking with travel agents. She was pleasantly surprised with an all-inclusive honeymoon getaway.
Hunter and her husband stayed at the Moon Palace and were able to go snorkeling and swimming with dolphins.
“When you go to Cancun, if you’re really specific to what kind of trip you want, you can definitely get it,” Hunter said. “You definitely have the atmosphere that you want. It’s quiet and romantic.”
Punta Cana, dominican republic
Located at the southern tip of this country, Punta Cana is surrounded by sandy beaches. According to Lindow, the blue water is some of the best for scuba diving. Tourists can’t resist mingling with the local culture. More common tourist attractions such as Hard Rock Café and a mall have been built recently for visitors.
Sabrina Lilla, 27, of Sterling Heights, chose Punta Cana as her honeymoon destination. Her all-inclusive package included all different types of food, which was her favorite part of the trip, she says.
“They had buffets and even five different restaurants that you could go to,” she said.
Lilla and her husband also were able to go on a countryside tour to soak up the local flavor.
“The atmosphere in general is just different from what we see,” she said.
Hawaii
It’s the most traditional honeymoon destination for American couples. The people are friendly, the beaches are beautiful, the food is amazing and the water is warm, Lindow says. Countless national parks and volcanoes are sure to attract any visitor for days of fun.
So thats what they say, do you agree? I know that Jamaica is a great place to go, I have a friend whose been to Cancun, and my parents have been to Hawaii, but St Lucia and the Dominican Republic, I don’t know much about.
Tell me what you think are the best places for a honeymoon.
