Looking for a Vacation Rental in Jamaica

Just to clarify the last post on travel and hotel websites, I’m looking for a vacation rental house. There are a lot of vacation rentals by owner, in fact, there is a site for them. VRBO.com has listing of vacation rentals by owner all over the world. I want to stay away form the all inclusive resorts, because I just don’t feel that you experience the country and culture. I saw a show on the Travel Channel about a resort in Jamaica where you can put on a big inflated suit and sumo wrestle each other. Huh. I can’t seem to figure out how that relates to Jamaica.

There are vacation rentals all over the island. Finding one for the right price, that has all the things we want is the hard part. Beachfront property is almost a must. I want the beach. I would say close to some good things to do is important, but there is so much to do in Jamaica no matter where you are.

I’d love to do one of those adventure vacation packages, but no one else seems to excited about that. I’ve found some places right on the beach, where you can stay in little huts. You know, huts, made out of bamboo, outdoor bathroom and shower (still private of course), cool places like that. However, my wife has her own ideas about a place like that.

Please help, I’m going crazy trying to find the right place.
