Spring is here. The weather is warming up (although a little too slowly), and many people are getting outside again after a long and cold winter.
This is also the time when vacations to the Caribbean start to fall off a bit. We are actually coming up on the low season of tourism for many Caribbean countries such as Jamaica. What does this mean for you? Cheap vacations.
MSNBC had an article a while ago about some of the best quick, inexpensive beach getaways.
Top 10 Quick & Cheap Beach Getaways
The beaches on Aruba are said to be some of the best in the world, That is why so many people go to Aruba. They love it, they come back, they tell their friends, and their friends come. Beautiful beaches, great weather and lots do to make Aruba the place to be.
Barbados is another island with great weather. Of course, most of the Caribbean has great weather, so I guess it’s a given. The best beaches are on the west and south coasts. My parents have been to Barbados, and they loved it.
3. Key West
If you are a ParrotHead, you have to go to Key West. The laid-back, relaxed almost Caribbean feel will put you into a Jimmy Buffett song. It can get crowded, but with everything there is to do and see, it can be worth it.
Oahu is the center of everything in Hawaii. Culture, food, history, etc. The beaches are also the major draw (of course), including the North Shore.
The Turks and Caicos have become more popular in the past years, but are still relatively untouristed (I made that word up). Providenciales is the main island and includes Grace Bay, considered by many to be one of the best beaches in the world. If you want to do some snorkelling, the island is surrounded by a barrier reef that is amazing.
6. Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta keeps it small town charm in spite of being a major tourist town. The great thing it has going for it is mountains on one side, and the Pacific on the other which means that you can have the beach and some adventure in the mountains. Puerto Vallarta comes alive at night with some great club life ( if your into that sort of thing).
Snorkelling, golf, great beach waves, whatever you want, chances are that Rincon has it. It is one of those places that seems a world away, yet you can have all the conveniences of modern life.
8. San José del Cabo
Want to experience Cabo, but not be there all the time? The San Jose del Cabo is for you. A quiet little town close to Cabo can let you have all the fun you want, but still relax.
9. St. Lucia
If you are into nature, then St. Lucia is the place to take your next vacation. It is one of the most lush islands in the Caribbean. Beaches, jungles, anything you want. They also have Carnival.
10. St. Martin
It is the smallest, but it still has more ocean beaches than Ohio, 37 to be precise. Nightlife, beaches, watersports, and yes, even topless sunbathing. If you want a quiet secluded place, stay on the French side. If you want big resorts, stay on the Dutch side.
