Caribbean and Jamaica Vacations Cheaper than Europe.
Could it be true? When I was a kid, going to the Caribbean was pretty much only for rich people. Now I’m going myself (for the third time). Because of European currencies against the US Dollar, prices there are going up. According to Ocala.com, staying in the Caribbean can even be cheaper than staying home. After researching prices in some of the resorts in Negril, Jamaica, I can say that this is true. I have seen some great deals on all-inclusive resorts for off-season trips (usually May – September). I’m not staying at an all-inclusive resort because I just don’t like resorts. What’s the point? I can go anywhere and get the exact same kind of resort. When I go to Jamaica, I want to experience Jamaica. Not to say that I’m roughing it in a shack in the mountains. A friend of mine (who is going with my wife and I next year) stayed at the Lost Beach Resort in Negril, Jamaica. They did have some really great rates. It would actually be cheaper for us to stay there with the all-inclusive package, than it is for us to stay at the Beach House Villas after we pay for food for the week. Plus Lost Beach didn’t look like some of the other resorts, it was way out of the way, in fact, I think it wasn’t actually in Negril.
If you don’t want to worry about anything at all, stay at an all-inclusive. If you want to decide for yourself what to do, and experience some real culture, stay somewhere smaller and take care of yourself.
