Air Cooled VW Fun Fest. Mid America Motorworks Volkwagen Funfest.

I just got back from Effingham, IL last night about 2AM. My brother was invited to the Mid America Motorworks All Air Cooled VW Fun fest, and since I’m an employee (plus my birthday) I got to go with him and his 6 year old daughter. I know this isn’t close to a beach, not even the lake, but it’s still a fun vacation idea for the family. The people at Mid America Motorworks are fantastic. They are really friendly and love to have fun. Plus there were some great beach cars like this bug;

Please don’t bother looking at the camera date. I need to fix that, I just usually never take many pictures, so I always forget to change it. This Bug just made my day with the whole beach theme.

This next one was my favorite. I love the Things. I plan to buy one someday. This is what I would look for;

My brother and I were actually asked to be celebrity judges for the day. I thought that it would help to be a celebrity but they asked anyway. I would have picked this Thing, but unfotunately, Dean Kirsten of Hot VW Magazine picked it before I got there. So I had to keep looking.

Luckily I found this Thing;

The guy who owned it explained to me he bought it in Hawaii, and that it is a great beach car. I laughed and told him that that was exactly what I was looking for.

I had a great weekend, and like I said before, the people ad Mid America were phenomenal. They really enjoy the Fun Fest. I would definitely recommend it for the entire family. They had massages, manicures, pedicures and wine tasting for the ladies, and a whole bunch of kids activities, including a Bug shell painted in blackboard paint with chalk to draw on. My niece had a blast.

If you need more pictures, you need to check out my brothers page over at The Classic Beetle. He’s got a lot more information about Fun Fest coming soon, and plus just a whole lot more information about his own Bug restoration project, and plenty of resources for your project.
